Artist Statement

I hate all noses.

Yours, mine, the person bedside you (don’t look!)

Somewhere around 1985, I decided people noses should be replaced with the pink, velvety beauty of a kitty cat nose. I enjoyed the swirls that the pores made when you looked really, really closely.

I was in kindergarten.

Seeing everything for its potential is fun to me. Its potential to be described with many adjectives, such as: Bewitching. Enthralling. Unexpected. Whimsical.

It also makes me a horder, albeit a very neat and organized one.

I am a mixed media artist that uses mostly found objects. Im that weird woman that buys all the cat statues at the thrift store. I have an entire section in my card catalog labled:

Medical Diagrams: Potentially funny
Definitely Funny

I have no classical training past high school, but will brag that Advance Art 4 & 5 were created at my high school just for me (and 2 other students, but mostly me). This is a huge deal in a city known for its lack of teeth and many exciting opportunities in the exciting field of mud bogging.

My art is meant to be original and beloved, something you would rush in and save should your house catch fire (God forbid!)

“Do what only you can do best: Make art. Make it on the bad days..make it on the good days, too.”
-Neil Gaiman
