More baby shower- banner thingy

In the spirit of copying, I made the banner in the below photo

I liked the card stock stuff they used, and I had similar patterned stuff, leftover invitations from my wedding. They were, of course, designed by the great Shane Deruise, so I can take zero credit for them. Vistaprint can take some of the credit of me having leftovers, as their postcards must be ordered in larger lots that what we needed.

So I took some plain white card stock, and covered our info in order to, you know, make a blank slate for what would cause me a headache.

I wanted a simple type font, but original looking, so like a dumbass, I decided to do the letters myself.

The picture has the cards horizontal, and I did try this. As you may or may not know, I hate rulers and measuring of any type, I just prefer to eyeball things. This results usually in crooked things, but I am unwavering in my measuring hatred.

The above letter was too plain I felt, so I tried to make it, er, fancier?

Much like trying to spell a word too many times, and writing it over and over until a simple word looks so wrong that you have to google it to make certain you did indeed spell it right, the more I worked on this R the worse it looked.

So I started over, deciding that I was a surprisingly vertical sort of person.

Using my straight edged ruler type thing to estimate the middle and as a, well semi at least straight line, I worked steadily from 10-1am.

To attach them to the line, the photo has tee tiny little clothes pins. I do not, so I decided to make little bows. I love little bows.

Attached to the cards, I think they look decent.

I finished them up last night, and hung them on the line beside the fluff balls.

Check out that cluster F of a studio. How distracting is the background? Oopsie.

I feel like it turned out ok. Saying I didn’t want to print a font because I wanted to retain the handmade quality sounds pretentious, or like I f-ed up something and wanted to still retain credibility as an art-iest, I’ll just say it looks alright, and I think I was semi successful in copying. I was extremely successful in spending zero dollars in supplies.

So yay for that at least.
