Quick one for Lizccentric! Wall art (on the cheap)

On my Functional art post, the amazing Lizccentric posted a question about large wall art.

As much as I would love to take credit for this idea, I won’t.  I can’t even take credit for finding the idea online, Shane did.

I posted the link as a reply to her comment, but just in case I did something wrong, here’s the apartment therapy link that tells of an amazingly simple and cheap way to make huge wall hangings.

I assume you could paint your own picture on canvas, or any type of material really, as long as it doesn’t bleed, and follow these same steps, but I went to the always awful but dreadfully necessary joanns fabric in Cary.

Armed with a valium and a coupon, I purchased 2 yards of a pretty patterned fabric that Shane and I agreed on, then went to Lowe’s and bought this insulation crap. I think it was $10 or so.

Then, following apartment therapy’s instructions, Shane attached the fabric and Var lar!

A lightweight large wall hanging!

Good lord my living room looks barren.  Oh well, this photo was from the week we moved in. Oh well.

So, the project was approximately $23.

Wow! This is an amazing idea! and cheap!

Exactly what I was looking for…plan to hang (4) of them together on the wall, and add much color, to such a plain wall.

For example, as people walk down the steps they will see them hanging high on the wall.

So cheap! Would have to pay thousands for original art that is large!

Like the way Shane thought of the lightweight materials as calls for no wall anchors!

Wonderful, and thank you…you both have much artistic talent!

Going to do this project (hopefully) this weekend…great idea!

Amazing, you both thought of this so quickly…
