Old moldy books

Something I like to do with old books.

I am not a poet or a writer.  Ever.  But I love to get old language books, like the kind that have fill in the blank areas, and cut them up.

The above is a old German book that I turned into an anniversary present for the Shane.  The picture is the first I have of us together, when I was showing him a huge bruise on my arm in his bathroom.  Sexy, I know!

The cutouts are from a fill in the blank group of questions after some tragic love story in French, and I have no clue the story, as I cannot read French.

I don’t know if it’s legible in the photo, so it says:

What shall you do when he comes?

Nothing restrained them
In the morning
By and by
To take care to
She has the thrills she expected
But with tragic consequence

Yay for other people!

I love what you have done with this book. It’s very ‘old-meets-new’ish and I really like that. Have you given it to him yet? What did he think? 🙂

I did! I gave it to him Sunday night, only 11 days late. I think he really liked it. I wrote song lyrics and put little mementos in it, things that made me think of him, blah blah..cheesy but thoughtful. 🙂

I’m glad you like the idea!

Thanks for your comment, I love comments! : D

    That’s a really awesome idea! 🙂
I am NOT a good repurposer… (if that is a word?!) but I would love to get better. 🙂

Thank you!! I think it comes secondarily to being a hoarder. Not the accidental cat killing hoarder, but the much cleaner and more organized, “I’m not throwing this out! I could make a hat/brooch/teradactyl* out of that.”

*SIC and stolen from the movie Airplane!

What a great idea? I love this idea! I don’t like scrapbooking, but this looks like such fun.

    Love it!
