Frida..part deux

After working for 2 hours..trying my damndest to get her eyelash line correct, I think I’m happy with it.

Why 2 hours?

Well, buttons unfortunately don’t always come in a size I require.  The smallest I have found are around 2-3mm.  So for tiny details, I use seed beads.  Which are a colossal pain in the ass.  I thought buttons were difficult to deal with.  Meaning, I am sitting on my bed with needles, pins, buttons, thread bits, and assorted crap around me.  I stand up to go get whatever the hell I neglected to bring upstairs, and it appears I have hatched buttons and beads.  They are adhered to my legs and fall off of me when I stand, therefore creating a choking hazard for the baby.  And another mess for me to clear.

But still, 2 hours? There’s a way seed beads have to be sewed in order to lay flat, yet overlap the buttons in certain areas to create depth or shadow.  Blerg.  Then I realize, oh this looks like shit.  Instead of stopping, like a normal intelligent person, I continue.  Hoping things will work themselves out.  And it does not.  So I have to take the whole thing out, bead by bead, from the back.

Realizing my most favorite tool, the seam ripper, is of COURSE, downstairs, I have to use my large fabric scissors to cut these out.  This is awkward, involves lots of cursing, and the startling realization that if I wasn’t so damned lazy and just got the stupid seam ripper, I would’ve been finished by now.

So the Frida continues.  And I will be sure, the second I get home from work, I will go get the seam ripper and piut it upstairs on my dresser with the piles and piles of other junk that doesn’t belong.
